Although this year 2010 Thailand automotive market concentrate on sub compact and eco car segment but pick-up still be the large volume and has many competitors especially competition between 2 leader Toyota Vigo and Isuzu D-Max.
For Jan – Sep 2010 total automotive sales equal 556,349 increase 51.8% compare with 2009 pick-up share 268,271 or 48% of total. 1st is Toyota 114,764 share 41.8%, 2nd is Isuzu 98,198 share 36.6%, 3rd Mitsubishi 20,757 or 7.7%, 4th is Nissan 16,740 share 6.2%, 5th Chevrolet 5,263 or 2.0%, 6th Ford 4,530 or 1.7%, 7th Mazda 1.6%market share sale 4,364 and last is Tata 3,655 share only 1.4%.
Toyota focus on promotion, new campaign to point that Toyota Vigo can save energy and good performance from common rail engine. This year Toyota did not change to new model or even minor change.
Isuzu present new minor change D-Max and Mu-7 super titanium to increase market share. Super Titanium change some detail e.g. new front bumper, fog light and also add front camera and use this new camera as main sale promote for D-Max and Mu-7 Super Titanium.
Ford Thailand will launch their new model on quarter 2 or 3 of 2011 after Ford present this new model in Australia motor show couple of week earlier.
Mazda also present new BT-50 in Australia motor show then will launch this new model in Thailand on 2011 this new model body will larger and gas consumption become lower. Mazda Thailand will present minor change version of current model on next couple of weeks.
Mazda and Ford already confirm for new model change for next year but for 2 main market share both Toyota and D-Max still quite about new model this will stimulate competitive in the market on year 2011.
