Olivine sand has green color, the chemical formulation is (Mg.Fe)2SiO4 . It has basic property and specific gravity at 3.2-3.6, the hardness is 6.5-7 Mohr and the thermal expansion at 0.0083. Olivine sand has the thermal conductivity rather low, it has melting point at 1538 -1760 °C.
Olivine sand come from natural and have a lot in Norway, it quite expensive then using not wildly in the foundry.
