Foundry Coke is a source of heat and also helps maintain the required carbon content of the iron product. Foundry Coke production requires lowers temperatures and longer times than blast furnace coke. Foundry Coke making process involves carbonization of coal to high temperatures (1100 °C) in an Oxygen deficient atmosphere in order to concentrate the carbon.
