INOSTRONG or INOLATE 30 is general purpose inoculant to be used with gray and ductile irons. Inostong is powerful Sr based inoculant with low levels of Al and Ca.
Chill Reduction and improved machinability
As a strong graphitizing element, Sr minimizes the undercooling effect during solidification. INOSTRONG reduces chill by promoting the solidfication according to the stable Iron-Carbon system. By reducing chill and hard spots in the casting, machinability is improved.
Reduced the tendency of shrinkage
In grey iron an excessive number of eutectic cells can cause a reduced Graphite size. The use of Strontium based inoculants can be a great benefit resulting in a more uniform structure. The graphite precipitation results in expansion during solidification contraction, which is helful against shinkage.
An increased number of eutectic cells can contribute to smaller graphite in grey Iron. The use of Sr-containing inoculants will keep the number of eutectic cell stable.
Minimized risk of hydrogen pinholes
The effectiveness of Sr containing inoculant is improved by maintaining a low Al level that reduces the tendency of the iron to absorb hydrogen and then avoiding the formation of gas defects as pinholes.
